Review | The Body Shop Seaweed Ionic Clay Mask

My latest addiction from The Body Shop’s seaweed collection is this ionic clay mask. Like all other products I use from this range, it does exactly what it says on the tin, and provides my skin with everything it desires. And this mask has been a firm favourite in my weekly routine for a few months now and my skin has never been happier.
If you love masks or just pampering yourself and have combination skin, this is the product for you! The seaweed ionic clay mask is a revitalising clay mask which cleanses the skin as well as controlling excess oils. It draws out impurities, clarifies and refreshes. I have been after this seaweed clay mask for some time, it was sold out online for almost 3 months but I finally got my hands on a tub and I haven’t been disappointed.
The consistency reminds me of mud and because I’m so used to thinner, peeling masks this took me a few uses before I became comfortable with it. I still find it takes work to spread this over the face but what else do you expect from clay, the smell is pleasant and spa like which is always a win in my book. Once it begins to dry you can see it working, the blocked pores begin to open up and whatever’s in there is drawn out which leaves you with tiny dark patches in the dried mask. It’s rather rewarding being able to see it work. It does tingle and sting a little but to be honest the results are worth it.
I tend to apply a thin layer for a quick fix on days I’m pushed for time and it usually dries within 5-10 minutes but if you have no time constraint then slapping this on thick will leave you with a 10-15 min wait time. Whatever thickness you choose it will wash off very easily and leaves the face feeling soft and looking very clear.
I like to use this after or during a bath and I usually leave it on for about 20-30 mins, I then wash it off and go in with the deep cleansing facial wash to get rid of any left over dirt. This leaves my skin incredibly soft and fresh. However it does mean my skin can be a little thirsty after which is why I have been using the seaweed night treatment as it gives back moisture where needed and helps to balance excess oil. I’ve found after a month or so my pores are smaller and I have far less excess oil on my t-zone than before. It’s fit in so well to my routine and I will be repurchasing this time and time again.
Will you be trying the ionic clay mask?

I've never used a mask before but I am very tempted to this!

I love your photography here! I've never tried a seaweed mask.. which is odd because I love eating seaweed (when it's cooked of course). My housemate uses the lush one!

Good to know you have noticed less oil in your T-zone. I have to say I do love Body Shop products and this one sounds great

I'll be honest, I won't be trying this out. That said, even though I'm a guy, I have used mud masks! I'm very fussy about my skin care (yes, really) and have used them in the past. Interesting to read this though as my wife has done a small amount of Christmnas shopping on my behalf from the Body Shop and I believe this is one of the items she purchased. Good to know it works!

I found this mask slightly drying in areas around my face but I loved it for my t-zone, this is why people are so into multi-masking now!

Very tempted by this one. I love a nice face mask, always makes me feel pampered. Seaweed is a great ingredient too.

I need to get a new face mask saying that and this looks like it would do just the trick! I need this in my life 🙂
