Review | The Body Shop Tea Tree Pore Minimiser

Can I go a few months without reviewing body shop product? No. I have been testing this out for almost a year and yes it’s lasted me this long because I really have a love/hate relationship with it, which actually pains me to say because we all know how much I love the body shop.

Now I am in two minds about this product, does it do what it claims, yes sort of, but it also makes me really mad when I use it. I have to say more often than not it failed to meet my high expectations which I have become accustomed to from the body shop products. Now I tried applying this all over the face, as the instructions state, but found it would cake up my foundation or create tiny balls on product when blending product out. I thought maybe it was because I didn’t allow it to dry enough before putting on foundation so I tried leaving it about 5 minutes, or enough time to make a cup of tea, but it still became weird and cakey. Sometimes it wouldn’t even let me blend my foundation at all and it would slide off my face.

Now that’s not to say it doesn’t do it’s job, it definitely covers pores but doesn’t minimise them, I have large pores on my cheeks close to my nose and they’re still visible. However, it does mattify the face, leaving it very smooth, if you wanted to have a makeup free day then I would recommend using this all over. But if you are applying foundation I suggest only using this on your t-zone, I find it doesn’t cake up quite as much. It also loves being applied on a very cleansed face, so no slacking in your skincare routine! I have combination skin and my t-zone gets very oily but if I use this I find it reduces the oiliness I get during the day.

The consistency is great which is one reason I think I keep trying to get this product in my good books. It’s a gel but a silky one which glides on the skin wonderfully and the smell is great, I love the tea tree oil scent, it just reminds me of cleanliness and freshness.

As I said before I’m still on the fence about this primer and after the 9 months I’ve spent trialling it, I can’t say I would repurchase. Have you ever tried the tea tree pore minimiser? What’s your favourite primer?

I remember using their tea tree products a while a go and thinking how great they are. This looks really good!

I like tea tree, but this one does sound a little hit and miss to me. I do like primer though – Urban Decay is good, and also Stila.
