Why I’m Not Repurchasing Revlon Colorstay Foundation

I am pale, really really pale, so pale that when I don’t wear make up people either assume I am sick or extremely tired. Being this light skinned means it’s rather impossible to find a foundation that matches me, especially drugstore foundations, until a few months ago when I came across the Revlon Colorstay.

I thought I had found my holy grail product and I would never need to buy expensive foundation ever again, but boy I was wrong. I used it a few times without problems then one day I applied my primer (like I do most days) and then the colorstay but as I was blending it in, my face became lumpy with product, which is a huge no no for me. I almost didn’t want to use it again but persevered using no primer. This then left me with my huge pores exposed and my skin really not looking as flawless as I would like.

It claims to stay on 24 hours, it does not stay on that long, a good 8-10 hours maybe depending on activities. Also it picks up on any dry areas or spots you may have making you look cakey even if you haven’t used that much of it. Another qualm I have is the fact the bottle doesn’t come with a pump, you can sometimes waste a lot trying to pour it out.

I find this dries super quick on my face too which is a pain, I use my fingers to apply foundations and I nearly always have loads of product left on my hands because clearly I am too slow for this stuff.

The only good thing about this foundation is the colour, it matches me perfectly (ignore the photo above, I am tanned right now so it clearly doesn’t match), for reference to my skin colour I am NC15 in MAC when I’m normal and untanned.

Have you ever tried Revlon Colorstay? If so do you like it?

I'm so glad I read this! I was planning on buying it because I'm so pale its almost impossible to find a foundation light enough! But I also have really dry skin and I'd rather not have those patches accentuated so I think I'll stay clear of this product! x

I completely appreciate the "are you ok? You look ill" comment. But yeah, I'm in the same position. Longing for a foundation that suits my skin tone and gives me flawless skin. I've heard good things about Nars! I'm going to try them next 🙂

I must have good timing! So glad I could help & prevent you from spending money on something that is totally wrong for you, I don't think many people have got on with this foundation. I am always recommended NARS foundations so I think I will try them out for a bit

    Isn't it annoying!!

I've heard great things about NARS and am dying to try their products, I might go in and ask for a sample first and see how I get on.

Oh no.. I don't blame you not wanting to rebuy, I don't think I would have given up as soon as started getting lumpy. x

I've got some and don't find it too bad but I don't wear it alone; I use it as base under my Bare Minerals powder. Using alone I seem to look even paler than I am if that's possible!

I used to love revlon colourstay but then they did something to the formula and now it just doesn't work for me anymore. Which is sad because it was the only thing that lasted on my skin!

I used to really love this, but I'm not sure it's the same formula anymore because I tried it fairly recently on the back of my hand and it didn't feel very nice at all. Such a shame because the colour is great! xx

Never tried this one before, but definitely don't think I'll be trying it now – the formula doesn't sound great. It's annoying because I find it hard to find foundations that are pale enough for my skin as well, so if the formula was good I definitely would have tried it!

I am very careful with my makeup, I do buy Revlon eye shadows and things like that but never the foundation.

I'm stingy and didn't want to buy another foundation .. haha

  12. 28th July 2015 / 10:35 pm

Oh I use a powder on top, but with any primer it goes yucky!

  13. 28th July 2015 / 10:35 pm

A lot of people have said that to me, it's a shame when they change things!

  14. 28th July 2015 / 10:36 pm

The colour is amazing, I am so annoyed that I dislike it so much.

  15. 28th July 2015 / 10:40 pm

Yeah I am so annoyed, I love the colour and just wish the formula was different so i could finally buy cheap makeup for my paleness!

  16. 28th July 2015 / 10:41 pm

I wish I have never bought it!! I am going to be steering clear of drugstore makeup base and go high end with my foundation!
