This is one of my favourite looks I’ve done for ages, I love wearing oversized clothes but sometimes because of my petite stature I find my sensible head wins over my “just go for it” style head. And I end up going down the conventional route wearing a loose jumper with tighter trousers and vice versa. But I’ve decided to scrap the “rules” and just go for it.
It can be hard to style baggier clothing without looking like you’re drowning in fabric but I stick to a few rules and they seem to work. If I’m going for a boyfriend or girlfriend jean then I always make sure I show plenty of cleavage, ankle cleavage that is. Showing plenty of ankle makes sure my legs still appear to be elongated and pairing them with shoes that are equally low on the ankle will aid in the illusion.
An oversized jumper is a staple for me but again I could look like a child in my dad’s clothing if I’m not careful, now there isn’t much I can do to change how a jumper looks but adding another element can make all the difference. That element is a smart coat, when I say smart I mean something with a little structure and lapels with a classic shape. The clean lines really distract from the fact you can’t see my figure at all but the collar and lapels give that much needed structure to the look.
If like me you are petite, don’t be afraid to try styles that aren’t the norm for your height or frame, experiment, be brave, it’s all about how confident you feel in the clothes you wear.
Oh, do you like my beanie? I’m not usually a hat person because I feel I look a little weird but I love this one from Primark. The pom pom sold me if I’m honest. Are you a fan of an all over oversized look?
