What I Wore To A Winter Christening

trousers & shoes – asos, scarf, bag, jumper & earrings – h&m, coat – sheinside
Last Sunday we all got dressed up and went to my niece & nephew’s christening, I was asked to be god mother to my nephew Rupert, which was a huge honour. The last time I attended a celebration like this I was 18 and I think I wore a dress and I’ll be honest, I wanted a practical outfit, one which would withstand me chasing Rose around church and also keep me warm this time of year.

I chose to go in a smart pair of trousers, a jumper and some killer looking brogues.
I was looking for some simple black trousers on ASOS that I could jazz up with a funky jumper but when I saw these teal coloured crepe ones I knew I needed to have them. They feel ever so silky on the legs, floaty but nice and fitted around the waist and bum which was a real treat. The jumper, I featured in my last outfit post, I bought specifically for this occasion and I think it tones down the trousers and formality of the overall look but the sparkles add a little intrigue. I kept my accessories simple, a small boxy handbag and some winter inspired earrings from H&M. I love the snowflake studs a lot and have been wearing them non stop, even to work!
I kept my makeup and hair simple too but I always feel fancy when I curl my entire lob! I added a bit of texture spray to make it a little less uniform. I wore eyeshadow!!! I can’t believe it either, something came over me that morning and I’m surprised it lasted all day, I took these when I got home, I was sleeping in the car that’s why my eyes are red, and I’m still astonished at how good my face looks. I used the iconic 2 palette from makeup revolution, I went for a champagne as my base colour and then went in the crease and outer v slightly with a grey/shimmery shade. I actually forgot to take lipstick but conveniently found the sample size of Clinique’s Nude Pop lipstick in my handbag and it actually goes well with my look.
Have you been to a winter christening lately? What did you wear? Do you like my outfit?

The last baptism i remember going to was my own a couple of years ago. I didn't wear anything smart as i was getting dunked into a pool, came out completely soaked. I really like your outfit though, especially the jacket x

You always have the loveliest shoes! I haven't been to a Christening in aaages, did a wedding this year though. Although they're usually more summery affairs – this is a great outfit choice for a winter event though.

I've never been to a Christening! None of my friends have had babies! But you look fab – I love how smart you've done this, but with an edge.

Thank you Charlotte, I seldom curl it because it takes forever but I always love how it looks! I find only curling small sections and then using a salt spray or some hair clay you can create a really nice messy look.

Oh thank you and yeah I think if it had been my baptism I would have gone for something a little less put together.

Oh thank you, I do love a good brogue! I tried to keep the outfit still very me so I was comfy but a pair of tailored trousers really smartens things up!

Thank you! Well you have all this to look forward to, it's so lovely seeing friends and family gathered together even if you're not that religious!
